Job Description

Position Summary: 
The Department of Theatre and Arts Management at Long Island University Post in Brookville, NY, is currently accepting work-study applications for employment with the Theatre Department and the Post Theatre Company. Hired students will work in one of the three areas listed below in support of the Post Theatre Company's 2026– 2027 season. When applying, please indicate your area(s) of interest and describe any relevant experience.

BOX OFFICE STAFF 
Assist with ticketing, patron services, and front-of-house operations. Under the supervision of the General Manager and Box Office Managers, students staff the Post Theatre Company Box Office during weekday operating hours (typically 12:00 p.m.–5:00 p.m.) and during performances throughout the semester. Evening and weekend availability is required. 
Responsibilities:  
  • Assisting patrons with ticket sales, reservations, and customer service. 
  • Answering phones and responding to box office inquiries. 
  • Maintaining ticketing, financial, and reservation records. 
  • Assisting with lobby setup, displays, and general organization. 
  • Assisting house management during performances, including ushering, ticket scanning, concessions, and audience services. 
  • Following established box office procedures and assisting with opening, intermission, and closing responsibilities. 
  • Reporting patron, facility, or safety concerns to the General Manager or Company Manager. 
PRODUCTION ASSISTANT 
Assist with scenery, lighting, props, painting, and production support. Under the supervision of the Technical Director and General Manager, Production Assistants support the preparation and execution of Post Theatre Company productions and assist in maintaining theatre facilities.  Instruction in the use of tools, equipment, and construction techniques will be provided. Work may include evening and weekend hours, particularly during the two weeks leading up to each production's opening.

  • Scenic construction/installation 
  • Lighting 
  • Painting 
  • Prop building 
  • Administrative and production support 
  • General maintenance of the PTC Main Stage, Lab Theater, and other spaces.
COSTUME SHOP ASSISTANT 
Support costume construction, maintenance, and organization. Under the supervision of the Costume Shop Supervisor, Costume Designer, and designated Costume Shop staff, Costume Shop Assistants.
Responsibilities:
  • Assisting with costume pulling, construction, alteration, maintenance, and strike for assigned productions. 
  • Maintaining the organization and upkeep of the Costume Shop and costume collection.
