Position Summary:The Honors College is seeking dedicated and motivated Honors College students who have been
awarded federal work-study for the position of Honors College Assistant. This role offers a
unique opportunity to actively contribute to the vibrant Honors College community by providing
essential support in various areas, including maintaining Honors College spaces, assisting with
events and programming, managing social media presence, and aiding in admissions-related
activities. The Honors College Assistant will play a key role in enhancing the overall experience
of Honors scholars and promoting the Honors College's mission of academic excellence and
engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
Honors College Spaces Manager
Responsibilities:
- Conduct regular walkthroughs of Honors College spaces to ensure cleanliness,
organization, and overall appearance.
- Monitor study areas, classrooms, lounges, and common spaces for maintenance concerns
and report issues to Honors College staff.
- Ensure technology is functioning properly, including televisions, computers, printers,
projectors, and other equipment.
- Assist with room setup and breakdown for Honors College meetings, workshops, and
events.
- Maintain supplies and inventory, notifying staff when items need to be restocked.
- Organize storage areas, closets, and Honors College materials.
- Serve as the first point of contact for student concerns regarding Honors College
facilities.
- Complete weekly space reports outlining completed tasks and areas requiring attention.
Honors College Social Media Intern
Responsibilities: - Develop and maintain a consistent posting schedule across Honors College social media
platforms.
- Create engaging content highlighting events, student achievements, scholarships, study
abroad opportunities, and Honors College initiatives.
- Capture photos and videos at Honors College events.
- Write captions, stories, and promotional content aligned with Honors College branding.
- Monitor social media engagement and respond to comments or messages as directed by
staff.
- Collaborate with student leaders and staff to promote upcoming events and initiatives.
- Track social media analytics and provide monthly engagement reports.
- Maintain a professional and positive online presence representing the Honors College.
Honors College Digital Arts & Marketing Assistant
Responsibilities: - Design flyers, digital advertisements, social media graphics, presentations, and
promotional materials for Honors College events and initiatives.
- Ensure all materials follow established Honors College branding guidelines.
- Collaborate with staff and student leaders to create marketing campaigns for programs
and events.
- Assist in developing visual content for newsletters, websites, and recruitment materials.
- Update existing marketing materials as needed.
- Maintain organized digital files and design templates.
- Meet established deadlines for promotional materials to ensure timely marketing of
events.
Honors College Event Operations Assistant
Responsibilities: - Assist with event setup, registration, hospitality, and breakdown.
- Welcome guests and assist students, faculty, staff, and visitors during events.
- Prepare materials and supplies for Honors College programs.
- Assist with attendance tracking and event logistics.
- Help distribute promotional materials and event information.
- Support admissions events, open houses, orientation programs, and Honors College
recruitment initiatives.
- Serve as an ambassador for the Honors College by providing information and answering
questions about Honors programs and opportunities.
Honors College Front Desk & Administrative Assistant
Responsibilities: - Staff the Honors College front desk during assigned work hours.
- Greet students, faculty, staff, and visitors entering Honors College spaces.
- Monitor visitor traffic and determine the purpose of each visit (use of Honors spaces,
appointments, events, meetings, etc.).
- Verify scheduled appointments with Honors College staff and administrators when
applicable.
- Notify Honors College staff when students or guests arrive for scheduled meetings.
- Assist students with basic questions regarding Honors College policies, events,
requirements, and resources, referring more complex inquiries to appropriate staff
members.
- Maintain visitor sign-in procedures and attendance records as directed.
- Assist with filing, document organization, data entry, and record maintenance.
- Maintain organization of the front desk area and administrative workspaces.
- Monitor office supply inventory and notify staff when supplies need replenishing.
- Assist with distributing Honors College materials, promotional items, and event
information.
- Support Honors College staff with administrative projects and special assignments.
- Provide exceptional customer service and contribute to a welcoming Honors College environment.
Education Requirements: LIU student enrolled in an active degree program
Training, Skills, Knowledge, Experience:
- Must be an active Honors College student currently enrolled in classes.
- Should have been awarded federal work-study as part of their financial aid package.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Familiarity with social media platforms and content creation is a plus.
- Enthusiasm for engaging with fellow Honors students and contributing to a dynamic academic
community.
- Reliable and punctual, with a positive and proactive attitude.
