Job Description

Position Summary: 

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Associate Director of Student Run Businesses/ Store Manager. As the Associate Director of Student Run Businesses/ Store Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing daily store operations, driving sales, ensuring exceptional customer service, and leading a student-run team to execute the University’s retail vision. You will be part of a fast-paced and growing team in an innovative and entrepreneurial environment. This is a unique opportunity to establish the store as a key destination for Shark Nation. This position supports the Director of Student-Run Businesses to provide structured training that supports student development and operational success.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Achieve and exceed financial goals 
  • Creates success through a positive and collaborative store environment 
  • Works with the Director to analyze store performance. 
  • Hire and develop Federal Work Study Sales Ambassadors 
  • Creates and contributes to a proactive selling culture that focuses on building long term relationships with parents, students, alumni, faculty and administrators. 

Customer Service Champion: 

  • Ensures exemplary customer service and exceeds expectations at all opportunities. 
  • Enjoys selling, interacting with customers, being present on the sales floor, and leading the Sales Ambassadors by example on a daily basis.
  • Works with Director to build out an effective marketing and events calendar. 
 Visual Presentation/ Merchandising: 
  • Ensures brand integrity is reflected to customers by always maintaining merchandising standards; holds the store team accountable for maintaining merchandising standards on a daily basis. 
  • Creates desire for the brand and lifestyle. Is an outstanding example of a Shark Nation brand ambassador. 

Operational Duties
  • Supports store compliance through proper operational standards. 
  • Ensures store opening and closing procedures occur in an efficient and timely manner. 
  • Collaborate with Director in areas of risk management, store cash controls, and inventory management. 
  • Assists in all areas of stock, shipping, receiving protocol/policies, procedures and all shipping/receiving related paperwork. Ensure deliveries are processed in a timely manner. 
  • Participates and assists in leading semi-annual store inventory counts. 
  • Assists in training Sales Ambassadors on register usage and maintenance. Understands and properly executes all management and register functions. •
  • Completes daily business analysis and communicates results to Director. 
Human Resources and Team Development: 
  • Coaches and develops the Sales Ambassadors and maintains a positive store environment. 
  • Maintains fun, welcoming, energetic, and passionate environment for the sales ambassadors that adheres to HR policies and university guidelines.
  • Provides continuous performance feedback and necessary training to assist in meeting current and future position requirements. 
  • Partner with Director to schedule and facilitate training sessions when needed to develop individual and overall team skills and abilities. 
  • Assists in creating seasonal product knowledge tools for staff. 
  • Ensures Sales Ambassadors have a wide breadth of knowledge relating to our Shark Nation story, aesthetic, product/brand knowledge, sizing and fit across all product categories.
Inventory Management: 
  • Maintains a thorough understanding of all inventory related rules, processes, and tools. 
  • Assist with training the store team in proper inventory management. 
  • Receive, inspect, and verify incoming merchandise shipments for accuracy and quality. 
  • Ensure all products are barcoded, priced, and properly stocked or stored. 
  • Prepare and maintain records of damaged or lost goods.
 Online Orders
  • Fulfill online orders. Responsible for making sure all online orders are packed and shipped in a timely manner. 

Minimum Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree or work/life experience equivalent. 
  • Retail leadership experience, including multi-level team management. 
  • Retail management experience in apparel and accessories 
  • Shopify POS experience. 
 Knowledge/Skills/Abilities 
  • Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills. 
  • Customer service, communication, and presentation skills. 
  • Passion for relationship building with customers and cross-functional partners. 
  • Ability to lead and motivate a team 
  • Knowledge of industry trends and market conditions 
  • Ability to adapt to changing market conditions and adjust strategies accordingly 
Physical & Work Environment Requirements 

  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds 
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time 
  • Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, and movement throughout the workday 
  • Work is performed primarily in a retail environment 
  • Must be able to work weekends and occasional evenings as required by business needs
