Purpose or role of the position within the organization (Basic Function and Scope of Responsibilities):
Student will be involved in our research project to help with laboratory work and microbiological procedures of the collected bacterial isolates from the milk samples of dairy farms in Long Island.
Duties and Principal Responsibilities:
Student will be involved in essential lab work, including preparing bacterial culture media, and culturing bacteria.
Student will also perform antimicrobial sensitivity tests and antibiotic resistance profile. Student may also support the team in milk samples collection from dairy farm.
Student will also extract DNA from the bacterial isolates, and conduct PCR for resistance genes
Education Requirements: LIU student enrolled in an active degree program
Training, Skills, Knowledge, Experience: Will receive necessary laboratory safety training
Rate of Pay: minimum hourly rate: $17 per hour
Period of employment: Begin Date: 41/2026 End Date: 12/31/2026
Evaluation procedures and schedules: Will be monitored and work under a close supervision of the research team. Progress will be evaluated periodically and measured by the outcomes and obtained lab results.
