Position Overview
Long Island University (LIU) is seeking a Part-Time Esports Coach to oversee its program at
both the Brooklyn and Post campuses. The coach will mentor student-athletes, build a
competitive and supportive team culture, and manage practices, competitions,
recruitment, and program development in collaboration with Athletics, Student Affairs, and
campus partners.
Key Responsibilities
Coaching & Student Development
• Lead, mentor, and train LIU esports student-athletes across multiple game titles.
• Develop strategies, practice schedules, and review sessions that enhance
performance and teamwork.
• Provide guidance on balancing academics, wellness, and competitive play.
Program Operations & Oversight
• Coordinate and manage esports programming across both LIU Brooklyn and LIU
Post campuses.
• Organize tryouts, practices, competitions, and tournaments, ensuring equal
support across campuses.
• Oversee team conduct, eligibility, and adherence to LIU and league policies.
Recruitment & Community Engagement
• Support student recruitment through admissions events, open houses, and campus
visits.
• Serve as a key ambassador for LIU Esports to prospective students, families, and
external partners.
• Foster community engagement through on-campus esports events, watch parties,
and outreach.
Collaboration & Representation
• Partner with Athletics, Student Affairs, IT, and other departments to maintain
facilities, equipment, and team resources.
• Represent LIU in regional and national esports competitions.
• Promote LIU’s esports program through marketing, social media, and professional
networks.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree preferred; significant experience in esports or coaching may
substitute.
• Strong knowledge of competitive esports titles (e.g., League of Legends, Overwatch,
Rocket League, Valorant).
• Experience coaching, mentoring, or managing student-athletes.
• Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
