Summary
Long Island University (LIU) Brooklyn is pleased to invite applications and nominations for a full-time in person tenure-track faculty member in Physical Therapy. The ideal candidate will have expertise in
biomechanics, motor control, neuromuscular physical therapy, and foundations of research
methodology. Additionally, the ideal candidate must have a record of peer reviewed recognized
research, teaching experience, and service that includes involvement in physical therapy education and
clinical practice.
LIU Brooklyn Department of Physical Therapy is one of 11 programs in the LIU Brooklyn School of Health Professions – Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Physician Assistant, Health Science, Sports Science, Exercise Science, Communication Sciences & Disorders, Public Health, Respiratory Care, Social Work, and Psychology. The DPT program is a 3-year full-time program, with a strong licensure pass rate record, and includes 35 weeks of clinical education. Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will teach in the DPT program, engage in an ongoing
program of scholarship demonstrated by a strong scholarly agenda, and provide service to the
department, University, and profession.
The successful candidate will be a physical therapist with an academic (PhD, EdD, DSc, or equivalent)
terminal degree.
Qualifications
Candidates must have a minimum of three to five years of clinical experience and be
licensed or eligible for licensure as a PT in New York. A proven record as an active investigator, with
demonstrated externally funded research from federal and/or corporate/industry research sources,
along with ABPTS certification is preferred. Prior teaching in the classroom and/or clinic, in addition to
contemporary expertise encompassing physical therapy discipline knowledge, skills and scholarship
reflective of current practice, is required. Academic faculty rank and salary will be commensurate with
experience and credentials.

successful PT candidate will add to LIU’s research innovation ecosystem across all fields. The DPT
research lab includes an 8 camera Vicon Motion Capture System, an 8 channel wireless EMG system,
a Zenomat walkway, an ATMI force plate, and a G-walk.
