Purpose or role of the position within the organization (Basic Function and Scope of Responsibilities):
This study investigate host–pathogen interactions of zoonotic bacteria and the role of membrane proteins in antimicrobial resistance. It involves bacterial and mammalian cell culture, serology, flow cytometery, PCR, sequencing, and fluorescence microscopy.
Duties and Principal Responsibilities:
Prepare bacteriological and mammalian cell culture media and subsequently generate, track, and maintain their cell lines throughout the cell culture process.
Cultivate pathogens with and without mammalian cells to evaluate host-pathogen interactions at protein, nucleic acid, and cellular levels using serology, PCR, sequencing, and fluorescent microscopy
Collect, analyze, and summarize data, and present the findings during Lab meetings
Education Requirements: LIU student enrolled in an active degree program
Training, Skills, Knowledge, Experience: Training in bacteriology, molecular and cell biology
Rate of Pay: minimum hourly rate: $17 per hour
Period of employment: Begin Date: May 20, 2026 End Date: August 23,2026
Evaluation procedures and schedules: Evaluation of the hired candidate will be based on their ability to maintain accurate and organized records of their experiments, collect and analyze data, including microscopic images, and effectively present their findings during laboratory meetings and seminars
