Job Description

Position Summary: 
The Project Coordinator will fill a .5 FTE position to provide leadership to the Transformational Youth Hub including conducting regional needs assessments, identifying resources across a variety of areas of need (e.g., fundamental needs [housing, food, clothing], mental health resources, civic engagement opportunities, and connecting with natural forms of support) and working with community partners to establish a network of resource for youth at risk for entering the criminal justice systems. and deploying the resources of the specialists, under the direction of NYSED Office of Special Education, as well as overseeing the peer mentor program. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Systems Change Facilitator 
  • Respond to directives of the NYS Department of Justice. 
  • Ensure all work of the Youth Transformation Hub is in alignment with Department of Justice’s priorities. 
  • Organize several professional development opportunities to inform school personnel, personnel from recreation/sports centers, family members, and clergy. 
  • Overseeing the peer mentoring program including assistance in recruiting mentors, creating procedures, schedules, and evaluation activities. 
  • Participate in regional planning in collaboration with the Department of Justice. 
  • Organize and implement evaluation procedures for all aspects of the project. 
  • Facilitating quarterly meeting with the advisory board (i.e., set agenda, record feedback, ensure feedback is integrated into the project). 
  • Providing staffing updates during the RLT monthly meetings as well as submitting staffing change documents to the OSE mailbox. 
  • Work in concert with the project’s partners to ensure streamlining of resources, distribution of funds, and accountability reports. 
  • Conduct a needs assessment with identified community baed organizations to determine high need areas for the delivery of support. 
  • Prepare quarterly logs and expenditure reports within 30 days of the end of the quarter (September, December, March, and June). 


Training, Skills, Knowledge, Experience: 

  • Expertise in systems change using principles of implementation science 
  • Experience providing professional development and/or technical assistance  
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and computer literacy 
  • Strong presentation skills  
  • Strong interpersonal skills that support interacting with families, school/agency personnel as well as NYS Department of Justice personnel  

Education Requirements: 

  • Minimum of a Master’s degree 

Working Conditions: 

  • Typical office setting with privacy
  • Required regular travel to various locations throughout New York City 
  • Occasional work hours will be required during nights and weekends.

  • Computer, copier, scanner, wireless access, phone and fax.
