Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
- Under the direction of the Family Engagement Facilitator, use a systematized process approved by NYSED to provide regional training and support, made available to families and other stakeholders.
- Identify and maintain regional resource information for community partners that serve children/students with disabilities and their families, ages birth to third grade. These resources will be posted on a community resource map.
- Seek out and cultivate new relationships with community partners who support children ages birth to third grade with delays, suspected disabilities, and disabilities, as well as strengthen and build upon already established relationships.
- Work closely with the School-Age FACE Resource and Referral Specialist to ensure alignment of work between the two teams of the FACE Center to avoid duplication. All collected information will be provided to the Regional Partnership Center and NYSED.
- Develop and strengthen interagency connections with community agencies, including establishing regular communication with local agency staff/groups
- Under the direction of NYSED, the School-age Resource and Referral Specialist will work together to host/attend regularly scheduled collaborative meetings (including agency staff, schools, administrators, families, etc.) that focus on a rotating series of topics (such as, early childhood issues, post-school outcomes, family engagement with schools, transition from preschool to school-age, mental health services, etc.). The frequency and general focus of these meetings will be determined by the Partnership Implementation Team(PIT) and through regional planning.
- will utilize support from the PIT and the Technical Assistance Partnerships (TAPs) for Transition, Behavior, Data, Academics, and Equity
- Participate twice annually in one day of a two-day meeting (Fall and Spring) for the purpose of professional development. Attendance will be determined by NYSED.
- will participate in monthly webinars established by the NYSED and the TAPs
- will participate in weekly online learning opportunities, as needed
- will attend twelve (12) days (8 in-person, 4 remote) annually in the region for the purposes of coaching, professional development, problem-solving, observations, feedback, and direct support from the TAPs.
- will utilize tools and training materials developed by the TAPs/PIT
- as determined by NYSED, will provide information and resources to upload to the website for the Partnership.
- will submit training data (the exact nature of which will be determined by the Partnership Implementation Team) to the TAP for Data for the purposes of evaluating the effectiveness of the Partnership.
- Utilize the Multi-Tiered System of Supports Integrated (MTSS-I) Center to build capacity through virtual training and coaching to support parent engagement in MTSS-I Implementation with identified EOs.
Training, Skills, Knowledge, Experience:
- Spanish speaking preferred
- Strong presentation skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and computer literacy
- Strong interpersonal skills that support interacting with families, school/agency personnel as well as NYS Department of Education personnel
- At least three year’s experience providing Community Outreach; working with parents of children with disabilities in a public/private school and/or community service agency setting
- Knowledge of Early Intervention and Preschool Special Education regulations, processes, and systems.
Education Requirements:
- Minimum of Bachelor’s degree.
Working Conditions:
- Typical office setting with privacy; ability to travel to various locations throughout Long Island and NY State.
