Job Description

Position Summary: 

The Department of Diagnostic Health Professions, at LIU Post campus invites applicants to apply for non-tenure track Assistant Professor of Biomedical Sciences starting in Fall 2026. The successful candidate will teach, lecture and lab courses for the MS in Biomedical sciences program and undergraduate courses offered by our section. The MS in Biomedical Sciences program prepares students for careers in health care, pharmaceutical industries, research, medicine and dentistry by providing a strong pedagogical foundation in a range of biomedical science courses. In addition, the department offers five undergraduate and graduate programs in clinical lab sciences, nutrition and medical imaging.

This full-time 12-month position, teaching requirement is 9 months, requires 12 credits (generally four courses) of teaching each Fall and Spring semester. Teaching assignments are likely to include a combination of undergraduate and graduate lecture and lab courses in cancer biology, pathophysiology, microbiology, virology, research methods etc.

Responsibilities:

  • Teach 12 credits each semester of undergraduate and graduate courses as assigned.
  • Mentor and advise undergraduate and graduate students for thesis work
  • Serve on departmental, school-wide and campus-wide committees
  • Contribute to collective administrative activities needed for smooth functioning of the department.
  • Participate in professional development activities that strengthen teaching and service delivery.

Qualifications

Required:

  • PhD or MD degree from an accredited national or equivalent international institution
  • Two or more years of postdoctoral research or professional experience in fields related to biomedical sciences
  • Two or more years of teaching experience in undergraduate lecture and lab courses.

Preferred:

  • Strong research background in biomedical sciences to mentor students in experimental research
  • Grant application experience
