LIU Event Assistant
Job Description
General Requirements:
o Open to Undergraduate and Graduate students, potential for leadership position.
o Remain in good academic, financial and judicial standing at LIU.
o Have and maintain a 3.0 GPA.
o Be available for training upon request.
o Be available to work evenings, weekends, break, as needed. Flexible schedule.
o Be an excellent communicator, responsible and time-efficient, with a friendly
disposition.
o Candidates will need to have completed two college semesters by the start date of the
position.
Campus Directional Knowledge is Preferred.
Principal Responsibilities:
o Clerical to customer service and client facing duties.
o Event Support
May include, but not limited to the following – ensuring designated or assigned
event venue or facility is ready, greeting guests, hosting check-in or registration,
connecting hosts with service providers, managing audio visual component.
o Conference/ External Rental Group Support
Assist with the preparation and execution of rental group needs.
May include, but not limited to the following – preparing keys, completing
paperwork, making copies, making calls, distributing pertinent information to
the guests, setting up rooms for guests, inspecting guest rooms, taking work
order requests and follow-up, linen packet issuing, keeping track of check-ins
and check-outs, troubleshooting issues, providing proper guest service.
o Be responsible for enforcing all aspects of the University Code of Conduct.
o Reserve Tuesday afternoons for possible staff meetings.
o Other duties as assigned by Events/ Auxiliary Management Team.
Dress Code:
o VIP Events- Shark polo (distributed at hiring)
o Black pants or skirt
o Office Hours- no sweats permitted
