Purpose or role of the position within the organization (Basic Function and Scope of Responsibilities):
LIU Global College is seeking globally minded, motivated LIU Brooklyn students who have been awarded federal work-study to serve as Global College Assistants. This position offers a unique opportunity to support the mission of Global College by helping to tell the story of our international, experiential program. The assistant will play a vital role in managing social media outreach, curating content from students studying abroad, and supporting promotional and admissions efforts on campus.
Duties and Principal Responsibilities:
Curate and manage engaging content for LIU Global College’s social media accounts, highlighting student experiences, international sites, and program updates.
Liaise with current Global College students located across LIU’s international sites to gather photos, videos, and stories for content creation.
Design flyers, posters, and digital materials to promote Global College events, study abroad opportunities, and academic programs.
Represent LIU Global College at involvement fairs, campus tabling events, and student club activities to raise awareness and encourage student interest.
Assist with admissions-related events, including providing peer-to-peer insight to prospective students and families during tours, info sessions, and open houses.
Attend periodic meetings with Global College staff to discuss strategy, content planning, and student engagement ideas.
Perform administrative tasks as needed, including preparing promotional materials and tracking content submissions.
Take on additional responsibilities as assigned by the Global College team to support the visibility and success of the program.
Education Requirements: LIU student enrolled in an active degree program
Training, Skills, Knowledge, Experience:
Must be a currently enrolled LIU Brooklyn student.
Must have been awarded federal work-study as part of their financial aid package.
Interest in international education, global issues, or intercultural engagement.
Strong communication skills and a professional, proactive attitude.
Experience with or interest in social media management and content creation (Instagram, Canva, etc.).
Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently and collaboratively.
Enthusiasm for promoting the mission and vision of LIU Global College.
Rate of Pay: minimum hourly rate
Period of employment: Begin Date: 8/1/2025 End Date: 5/30/2026
Evaluation procedures and schedules:
Student workers will be evaluated throughout the academic year to ensure strong performance, professional growth, and alignment with the mission of the Global College.
There will be five evaluation points:
Initial Check-In (September) – Confirms responsibilities, schedule, and expectations.
Mid-Fall Review (October) – Provides feedback on reliability, communication, and task completion.
End-of-Fall Review (December) – Summative assessment to determine spring responsibilities.
Mid-Spring Review (March) – Ensures continued progress and identifies support needs.
Final Review (May) – Overall performance summary and future recommendations.
Students will be assessed in the following areas:
Reliability and punctuality
Professionalism and communication
Task accuracy and follow-through
Initiative and engagement with Global College events and goals
Each evaluation includes verbal feedback and internal documentation. The process is developmental and designed to support students in building transferable skills for academic and career success.
