Job Description

Job Title: Adjunct Assistant Professor 
Teacher Education Full/Part Time: Part Time 
Campus: LIU Hudson 
Report To: Program Director 

Function and Scope of Responsibility Adjunct faculty responsibilities include the preparation for, and the teaching of, one or more assigned courses. 

Preparation includes: construction of an appropriate and up-to-date syllabus to be posted in the course shell(s) on the LIU learning platform at least three days prior to the start of class; a welcome letter posted in the course shell(s) at least three days prior to the start of class; submission of the syllabus to LIU Hudson at least one week prior to the start of class; attendance at Faculty Receptions/Meetings at the start of the fall and spring semesters; timely submission of grades no more than 48 hours following the last class of the semester.

Successful teaching includes: sharing course content/information; engaging students in critical thinking about course content and their field of study; encouraging a breadth and depth of thinking. 

Successful teaching at the graduate level also demands a high degree of professionalism and the ability to support students as their courses present them with intellectual and methodological challenges. 

Education Requirements 
• Earned doctorate, ABD, or master’s degree holder with relevant experience
