Position Summary
The Long Island University Lewyt College of Veterinary Medicine (LIU-CVM) in Brookville, New York, invites applications from self-directed, innovative and motivated individuals for a full-time, or part-time faculty position. The full-time position may be tenure or clinical track in veterinary emergency medicine/ critical care.
Key Responsibilities
- Clinical and didactic teaching in Emergency Medicine.
- Successful candidates are expected to promote LIU-CVM’s overall mission of enhancing veterinary medical education through a commitment to teaching, academic excellence, and service to a variety of stakeholders.
- Active engagement in curriculum development, identification or creation of innovative learning resources, committee service participation (such as admissions, curriculum, research, etc.) is expected of both clinical and tenure track full-time faculty.
- All full-time tenure track faculty contribute to the overall research and scholarly goals of the College of Veterinary Medicine and are expected to develop independent or collaborative clinically-based research in the field of veterinary emergency medicine within and outside LIU, which may include working with LIU-CVM partner/affiliate veterinary hospitals.
- The successful candidate will be the course director of the emergency medicine course delivered during the fourth year of the DVM program. S/he/they will interact well with University administration, the veterinary education community, faculty, staff, students and alumni.
Minimum Qualifications
- The successful candidate must have a DVM or equivalent degree, and expertise in Emergency Medicine Critical Care. Specialty board certification/eligibility by the American College of Veterinary Anesthesia and Analgesia or equivalent is essential.
