Job Description

Summary

The LIU Campus Recreation team is seeking a Swim Camp Instructor for our LIU Brooklyn Summer Swim Camp. The candidate must be available for 7 weeks of camp beginning July 6th and concluding August 28th (8am-3pm, Monday-Friday). 

Key Responsibilities

The Swim Camp Instructor performs a wide variety of jobs including: 
  • Manage the execution of the summer swim camp. 
  • Instruct campers on swimming techniques and skills. 
  • Incorporate mini-games and lessons. 
  • Supervise the swimming pool and campers at all times. 

Minimum Requirements

  • Associate's degree or higher. 
  • Swimming experience required. 
  • Swimming camp management/coaching experience preferred. 
  • Thorough knowledge and application of lifeguard surveillance and rescue techniques. 
  • An understanding of facility characteristics, rules, policies and procedures. 
  • Leadership. 
  • Decision-making skills. 

Working Conditions

Always indoors, the swimming pool is in the Steinberg Wellness Center at our LIU Brooklyn Campus.
