Job Description


The School of Health Professions at Long Island University (LIU) Post campus is seeking applicants for a tenure track assistant professor position in the Clinical Psychology Doctoral Program (PsyD) beginning September 2024. The position involves teaching and supervising research in PsyD course sequences. A successful candidate must be able to participate in department- and university-level committees, establish an extramurally funded research program that involves students, and supervise student practicum experiences. Applicants must have a PhD or equivalent in psychology and have a New York State License in Psychology. Applicants should have a strong record of excellence in teaching and scholarly activity, including peer-reviewed research and grant writing, and show enthusiasm to continue growing the academic, research, and clinical training aspects of the Psy.D. program. Applicants should have a commitment to free and open discourse as a core value of learning. This posting represents multiple openings.

Preference will be given to applicants with expertise in cognitive-behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, and/or transdiagnostic approaches.

Preference will be given to applicants with expertise in severe and persistent mental illness.

Principal Responsibility

Teaching responsibilities:

·         Teaching doctoral level clinical psychology coursework, preference:

·         candidates who can teach DBT courses.

·         candidates who can teach courses in Severe and Persistent Mental Illness (SMI)

·         candidates who can teach assessments, specifically: MMI-3 and Rorschach-Exner system.

·         Academic advisement

·         Engagement in departmental activities and events

·         Clinical supervision

·         Dissertation mentoring
