Job Description

Name of the position: Student Worker Chemistry Lab Assistant
Campus: Post
Department: Natural Sciences 
Location: Building and Floor: Pell Hall, 3rd floor
Supervisor Name and Title: Hanying Bai, Lab Manager 

Basic Function and Scope of Responsibilities:
  • Preparation, set up and clean jobs of chemical laboratory. 
  • Assistance of lab instructor and students during lab class.
  • Handle and disposal chemical waste.
Duties and Principal Responsibilities:
  • Preparation, set up, clean up of chemicals, equipment and glassware for use in lab classes. 
  • Management of the collection and storage of chemical waste generated during lab classes. 
  • Preparation of unknown samples for student analysis.
  •  Assisting lab instructor and lab students during lab classes.
Education Requirements: LIU student enrolled in an active degree program

Training, Skills, Knowledge, Experience:
  • Develop specialized skills in the proper preparation of chemicals and other lab instruments. 
  • the use of appropriate PPE and lab safety equipment.

Rate of Pay: minimum hourly rate
