Job Description
Hours/Week: 5-17 hours per week
Starting Pay: $20 per hour
Prerequisite: Nassau County Lifeguard Certification, First Aid, CPR for the Professional Rescuer/AED
Minimum Qualifications:
Current certifications in the following:
- American Red Cross Lifeguard Training, CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer and First Aid
Knowledge and Skills
- Thorough knowledge and application of lifeguard surveillance and rescue techniques
- An understanding of facility characteristics, rules, policies, and procedures
- Leadership and public relations skills
- Decision-making skills
Description:
- Ensures the safety of patrons of an aquatic facility by preventing and responding to emergencies.
- Maintains constant surveillance of patrons in the facility; acts immediately and appropriately to secure safety of patrons in the event of an emergency.
- Provides emergency care and treatment as required until the arrival of emergency medical services.
- Presents professional appearance and attitude at all times, and maintains a high standard of customer service.
- Performs various maintenance duties as directed to maintain a clean and safe facility.
- Keep the management well informed of pool maintenance needs including cleaning, chemical adjustments and repairs.
- Inventories and recognizes when supplies or equipment need to be ordered and communicates the needs to the director of special events Interacts with patrons regarding concerns, problems, or any other significant issues.
