Position Summary:
The Ceramic Studio Assistant
supports the daily operation of the ceramics studio and helps maintain a clean,
organized, and safe working environment for students, instructors, and studio
members.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and organize
clay, tools, glazes, and other studio materials.
- Maintain cleanliness of
worktables, sinks, floors, shelves, and shared equipment.
- Assist with loading and
unloading kilns under the direction of studio staff.
- Organize finished pieces, works
in progress, and student storage areas.
- Reclaim and recycle clay and
help manage studio waste.
- Mix or prepare glazes and other
ceramic materials as instructed.
- Assist instructors with class
setup and cleanup.
- Monitor studio supplies and
notify staff when materials need to be restocked.
- Help students and studio
members locate tools, materials, and equipment.
- Follow and help reinforce
studio safety procedures.
- Perform other general studio
maintenance and operational tasks as needed.
Qualifications:
- Basic knowledge of
ceramics or willingness to learn.
- Reliable, organized, and
comfortable working independently.
- Able to perform physical studio
tasks, including lifting clay and supplies.
- Good communication skills and a
cooperative attitude.
- Previous ceramics, art studio,
or workshop experience is helpful but not required.
