Job Description

Saturday morning and summer program

Part-time - 4 hours each Saturday for ten weeks in the fall and ten weeks in the spring. The first Saturday will be 5 hours. Full month in July 9 A.M. - 4:00 P.M. {19 days in July)

Number of Hours per week:  4 hours fall/4 hours spring/ 35 hours summer.

Number of Months per Year: {10 Saturdays in the fall, 10 Saturdays in the spring, 19 days in the summer (July)

Reports to: Headmaster and Director of the Center for Gifted Youth / Associate Dean / Dean

Qualifications and Skills:

Bright and responsible individuals who love working with school age children. College education majors highly preferred {Preference given to LIU students and LIU alumni).

Job Overview: Perform duties that are instructional in nature or deliver direct services to students or parents.

 

Performance Responsibilities:

Foster a nurturing environment conducive to academic success and fulfillment.

Provide teachers with support in the classrooms -- work under the guidance and supervision of the teacher assigned to the class.

Provide direct assistance to students with specific regard to student safety throughout the campus. Engage with students in activities in the classroom under teacher supervision.

Housekeeping: putting the classroom in order, passing out resource materials, lab equipment, art supplies and assist in classroom projects as assigned by the teacher.

 

Take attendance and escort children to the bathroom during classroom session. Supervise and escort children from one class to the other until dismissal time.
